The HLFC Prize Presentation!!!

As a result of an amazing year in 2011 for the Pigeon Racing Nation, a gathering of prizes and members was held at the local clubhouse in High Littleton, on the 14th of January.

60 members of the club and their families gathered to collect their prizes and to enjoy some lovely food, thanks to Sally Brooks.

The evening started off with the members receiving their trophies, shields and of course the all important brown envelope of prize money.

Andy Heal

Sue Thompson

Janet Wilcox

I would like to say well done to the highest prize winners Janet Wilcox who earned £256 and a lovely, shiny shield, also winning 1st bird in the Saintes National. Well done to Andy Heal who won 1st Club Bird and Young Bird in the NFC Race and earning £96, and congratulations to John and Gerry Smallcombe for winning 1st Club Bird in the Tarbes race and the NFC Race earning them £108, Clive and Jill Rogers also did well in winning the 1st young club bird and collecting the classic silver tray, and earning £100 and well done to A and S Thompson for winning the average shield due to 1st old and young bird in the Inland race, earning them £48 and also well done to Stuart Wilcox who won the 1st section G National Fourgeres.

These are just a few of the lucky prize winners as there were so many of these fabulous racers, so a big well done to everyone else who was not mentioned.

After all the prizes were given to their owners the raffle began, it was a tense but fun game, everybody was happy even if they had or had not won something.

It was that much fun and enjoyment that made the raffle earn an amazing £145 alone.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the club, and well done to everyone.

Keep on Racing!

Jess Elliot.

Club Show

The members of the club decided to hold a pigeon show on 27 November, so that fanciers could meet, show their birds, and have a drink and chat in the club.

The first thing needed was sponsorship for the classes, which was very quickly obtained thanks to the generous people in the club. Eighty pounds was raised, plus raffle prizes from other members.

The four classes were Young Birds Flown Cocks and Hens, and Old Birds Flown Cocks and Hens. The judging of the 138 birds was carried out by John Staddon and Roy Wilton.

The winners were;

Best in Show – David Young

Best Opposite Sex – Eddie Bracey

1st Young Cock – S&S Bridges

1st Young Hen – T Preddy

Other young winners were Sid Miles, Chris Ellam, Brian Millard and Pat Green.

Thanks must also go to Terry Preddy, Brian Derrick and David Young for putting up the pens and organising everything.

Additional thanks to the sponsors, Ken and Janet Wilcox, Brian Millard, Pat Green, Jill and Clive Rogers, John Smallcombe and our excellent secretaries Sue and Alan Thompson for doing their usual great job.
